Dublin residents gathered together last Sunday, June 4th,2017 in front of a new development underway called The Boulevard. They were demonstrating peacefully to alert potential home buyers about several things, including the lack of school availability for Dublin residents and the fact that Developers have not been paying their fair share for Dublin schools.
The goal of the demonstration was to bring awareness to the dearth of school facilities in Dublin and to encourage Developers to pay more in mitigation fees for schools, or at least to help in some capacity to build the much-needed schools our community desperately needs – particularly a second comprehensive high school. The Developers, the City and the School Board must come together and negotiate deals that are in the best interests of the community. The mitigation agreements that lead to Developers paying practically nothing toward Dublin schools must stop – Dublin schools are headed toward a crisis. Hopefully, the Developers will become part of the solution and not perpetuate the problem.
There will be another peaceful protest this weekend – June 11, 2017 1-4pm asking all developers inDublin for a multi-developers agreement to help fund a second comprehensive high school. W.E. are Dubliners -United for our students.
